    Blues Influenced Music     includes bluesy melody lines, instrumental riffs, or vocal style. It's a straight-ahead Blues song when it follows any of the 9, 12, or 16 bar blues patterns to structure the overall song. Blues can be a feeling or a structure. Most musicians think of blues as a twelve-bar musical form which provides a frame for improvisation. Its roots are found in a specific region of Africa, and it evolved in the southern U. S. from field hollers, work songs and spirituals. Contrary to popular belief, Blues songs aren't always sorrowful; however, the genre often expresses that which seems inexpressible about the human condition.
